About Drumdojo

Dojo is a Japanese word meaning 'place of the way', it reflects the rationale behind the Drumdojo theme, the site and its cellular structure.

drumdojo information fact opinion encyclopedia wikidrum bodojo junkdojo kansandojo bodydrums drumbitsDrumDojo started life in 1998 as Powerhaus.net by Paul Marshall from N.Ireland. It was intended for percussionists who have spent hours surfing the 'net looking for key pieces of information to supplement & advance their understanding of their instruments.

Powerhaus became Drumdojo in 2001 to provide a cohesive information-based resource. Much of the content of the site is presented in the form of useful articles written by knowledgeable percussionists from all around the world, other parts provide reviews of equipment and links to further information on the web.

The site is not about people showing off how much or little they know, but is instead directed towards drummers from all disciplines as a site where they can learn more about how and why their instruments work. You are invited to share some of their understanding for the benefit of others.

Drumdojo It is intended to be pseudo-encyclopaedic in its construction with equal rigour on fact checking and accuracy. The site tends to have a technical aspect by design and has placed no barriers on the depth to which any area of our art can be investigated

I express my sincere thanks to the percussionists from RMMP and elsewhere who were so generous in donating their work at the start of the project and for freely sharing for all these years.

I have written to everyone to ask them to take up their advertising allocation. and I invite fresh contributors and fresh articles

Thanks are especially due to the professional and amateur players of RMMP (rec.music.makers.percussion) newsgroup for their contributions to the drumset section, thanks are also due to RMMPH-D (rec.music.makers.percussion.hand-drum), and the frame drumming, bongo drumming, goblet drumming and bodojo yahoo groups. I and the contributors hope you enjoy the site and take some useful information away to help your understanding of the instrument.  You are free to download for individual study purposes only - any other use is not permitted unless with clearance from the author(s) - please see the copyright notice below.  If you use an article frequently then I would request that you submit one for others to share
