Because
the room needs to be sound-proof, in the simplest sense, this means that the
room must also be air-tight. Obviously, an air-tight room is not practical, so
ventilation has to be achieved without compromising the sound proofing. There
are three principles that must be followed here:

Stage3 Part 2
The
inline fan is a Vent Axia ACH-100 that has been mounted on a sheet of foam
insulation sandwiched between two sheets of chipboard to provide some
insulation. The idea here was to prevent the vibration from the fan being
transmitted back down into the room.

Isolate fan

Unfortunately, I discovered (after the ceiling
of the practice room had been put up), that the foam used to provide vibration
insulation was too dense. A significant level of vibration was being transmitted
into the frame of the room: so I had to think of an alternative
solution.
